After almost a year since its first episode was showcased at the International Film Festival of Indian (IFFI), Malayalam star Nivin Pauly and Rajit Kapur’s web series is all set to get its streaming release.

The first season of the social drama, which is helmed by Finals director PR Arun, will begin streaming on JioHotstar right after Diwali. As per our sources, Pharma will begin streaming on the OTT platform in November.

Pharma OTT release date: How to watch Nivin Pauly’s web series

Earlier, the streaming platform had mulled plans of releasing Pharma in September but decided to push it to October 24 and now has delayed it to November. JioHotstar already had a big Malayalam release this month, with Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam which is now also accessible via OTTplay Premium.

The shoot of Pharma had concluded last year and has Nivin essaying the role of a middle-class youth, whose circumstances compel him to take up work as a medical representative. Through his character, the web series, which is expected to have 6-8 episodes, delves into the Indian pharmaceutical industry. The show will also revolve around the pressure faced by medical representatives in the industry to meet their target, and the ways in which they go about accomplishing their task.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra and Thudarum ’s music director Jakes Bejoy has composed the score for Pharma, which has cinematography by Abhinandan Ramanujam. Narain, Shruti Ramachandran, Veena Nandakumar, Muthumanii and Binu Pappu are also part of the series.

Malayalam web series to watch out for

JioHotstar has released several Malayalam web series this year including Love Under Construction and Kerala Crime Files Season 2 but Pharma will be their biggest release in this format in the language - due to its star cast. PR Arun, meanwhile, is also directing another web series for Sony LIV titled Unfair that stars Anarkali Marikar, Gayathrie Shanker, Meenakshi Jayan and Adil Ibrahim.

Nivin, meanwhile, is expected to have two big theatrical releases - Akhil Sathyan’s Sarvam Maya, which will hit theatres during Christmas, and Dear Students, which has Nayanthara as the female lead.
