Priyanka Chopra Jonas is currently neck deep in promotions of her upcoming Prime Video original series titled Citadel . The actress is not only counted amongst the finest and highest-paid actresses in Bollywood, but is also considered to be the global ambassador of Indian Cinema. During the Asia-Pacific media event of Citadel in Mumbai, OTTplay caught up with Priyanka Chopra about all things Citadel why she wouldn’t want her daughter to be proud of her on-screen characters, and more.

Priyanka never shies away from speaking her mind and is also considered among the strong feminist voices in the world today. Now that she is raising her little daughter, does the thought cross her mind that one day when Malti grows up and watches her on screen, she should feel proud and inspired? And does it play any part in her process of picking the kind of projects and characters she takes up now?

“No, because my job is that of an actor. And being an actor is being able to play an array of people. And those people can be good, they can be bad. I don't judge my characters. I'm just playing different human beings. So, I would love for her to be proud of the fact that my mother has such range, has such incredible variety,” Priyanka told OTTplay.

The actress elaborated, “I've played bad girls, I've played mean, girls, I've played good girls, I’ve played all kinds of characters. So, I would love for my daughter to actually be very proud of me as a human being, of the choices that I make, how I treat people when I meet them. How people speak about me when I leave a room. I think those are more important values than the fact that ‘Oh, my mother has played a specific character that may have flaws,’.”

“I would actually love for her to not grow up, thinking so self-righteous about characters and human beings. People are all flawed, everyone is flawed, no one is perfect. We are all trying to showcase our perfect version of ourselves. But that is not true. So, I believe in humanity, and I believe in being human and I would love for her to be proud of that,” she said.

Priyanka also shared that she has become more careful about what she says now, especially since she has a daughter and a family to think of, and everything that she does or says may (or may not) impact them. Before signing off, the actress mentioned that she’s become more protective about herself and her family and is no longer as free as she used to be, about six-seven years ago.
