Ramayana: Dipika Chikhlia on not getting approached for Nitesh Tiwari's mythological film; 'They've not even bothered to speak to me'

Dipika Chikhlia is popularly known for playing Sita in Ramanand Sagar's 1987 TV series Ramayan. After the release of the Ramayana teaser, the actress revealed whether she was approached for the film.

The teaser for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana was released on July 3, and it has received love and attention from fans. From Ranbir Kapoor as Rama to Yash as Ravana, the actors look promising in their mythological characters. Amid this, Dipika Chikhila, who is popularly known for playing Sita in Ramanand Sagar's 1987 TV series Ramayan, said that she was not approached for Ramayana film.

Dipika Chikhila on not getting calls for Ramayana film

In an interview with ETimes TV, Dipika Chikhlia revealed that she wasn't approached for any role in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Part 1. The veteran actress said, "I was never approached. I guess they've not even bothered to speak to me about it."

She expressed her reluctance to be associated with the Ramayana in any way. She added, "Once I played Sita, I don't think I can play any other character in Ramayan. It's something I'm not sure about." However, the actress said that if she gets the opportunity to do something in the Mahabharata or the Shivpuran, she will consider it.

The film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is a two-part epic retelling of the Hindu mythological story, with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Set in the mythological era, the narrative is based on Ravana's rise to power and his threat to cosmic balance, leading to Vishnu's incarnation as Rama to restore harmony. The film will feature cutting-edge VFX and a large-scale production, aiming for both Indian and global audiences.

Ramayana has two parts. Part 1 will focus on the lead-up to the war, while Part 2 will delve into the conflict itself.

Nitesh Tiwari's mythological epic, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lord Lakshman. Apart from them, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, are an integral part of the project as per reports.
