Creating a project that feels "relevant" for Salman Khan is no easy feat, according to Sooraj Barjatya. The two have been long-time collaborators, delivering hits like Maine Pyar Kiya Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Scrapped action project

Barjatya had planned to helm an action flick starring Khan, who is now 59 years old, but he ultimately scrapped the project because he couldn't find the perfect role for the superstar. The filmmaker told PTI, "There are some subjects that you are not able to take forward; you are unable to crack the climax or get the character, so until all of this does not come together, it doesn’t make sense to make a film. I've barely made seven films, but this is what I’ve decided to do, and until the time I don’t feel convinced I won't make it. So, I’m so happy that Salman Bhai is with me and today to make something relevant and fresh for him at his age is a bigger challenge."

Khan is well-known for his successful film career spanning over 30 years. Some of his recent flicks, including Sikandar Tiger 3, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and Radhe, fell short of what his devoted fans had hoped for.

Sooraj Barjatya's positive outlook on Salman Khan's career comeback

Nevertheless, Barjatya maintains a positive outlook on Khan's professional future. The filmmaker went on to say, "I think it happens in everyone's life... it is just that he is a celebrity; that's why he gets so much attention. But everyone should be allowed to make a mistake, to learn, because that is what his life is. We have to allow each other to; we should not be so harsh. He is such a good person; he is so strong that he is going to come back in a very big way."

Unforgettable Salman Khan Classics

Both Khan and Barjatya are occupied with their own projects, and their next collaboration has not yet been announced. Prem Ki Shaadi (directed by Barjatya) is a family drama that will feature Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari. On the other hand, Khan has started filming Apoorva Lakhia's Battle of Galwan (based on the conflict in the Galwan Valley in 2020), a war drama that is much awaited.

The problem of making meaningful, audience-resonating movies in the same distinctive style that made his works with Khan famous is highlighted by Barjatya's remarks. Speculation has begun among fans as to whether or not the two will team up again for another landmark film.
