Writer-director JP Thuminad’s blockbuster comedy Su From So is currently on OTT (JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium too), in the Kannada original version, as well as with Telugu and Malayalam audio. Since the OTT release, there have been queries about why the film is not streaming in Hindi or Tamil and the reason, according to the buzz in industry circles, is that it is because remake rights have been sold in those two languages.

The Tamil rights have, reportedly, been acquired by popular producer-distributor NS Rajkumar, and now we hear that the Hindi rights have been picked up by Bollywood star Ajay Devgn’s banner. Su From So was meant to have a Hindi dubbed release, with Anil Thadani’s banner said to be the distribution partner, but then that did not pan out, and the film only came to theatres in Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu.

Ajay’s meeting with Raj B Shetty, who produced the film and JP Thuminad in early August, which was widely speculated to be for a collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker, is now said to have been about discussing the possibility of remaking Su From So in Hindi. JP has denied reports that he is set to direct Ajay, but the buzz is that the latter will make the film in Hindi, which is why an OTT release was held back.

Speculation is that Su From So will likely be an addition to Ajay’s Shaitaan universe. But which character will he play? Ravi Anna, perhaps?
