Su From So on OTT: The much-awaited hit Kannada comedy film, starring JP Thuminad and Raj B Shetty, is reportedly dropping on JioHotstar shortly

Su From So, the ‘small’ Kannada film from Tulunadu, which released in theatres on July 25, 2025, went on to take the Karnataka box office by storm. Written and directed by JP Thuminad, best known as Deepak (Rukmini Vasanth’s Priya’s husband) in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B, Su From So was produced by Raj B Shetty’s banner and had the latter in a prominent role as well. The film’s OTT rights were not sold prior to the release, although Raj was in discussions with platforms.

Following the film’s theatrical success, it was reported that the streaming rights of Su From So had been picked up for Rs 5.5 crore, which pretty much covered the cost of production, promotion and theatrical release, meaning that the theatrical revenue was a ginormous bonus for Raj and co. JioHotstar reportedly bagged the rights. The super successful film is, as of now, the highest grossing Kannada movie of 2025, amassing over Rs 100 crore from the Karnataka box office. According to box office trackers, Su From So has recorded world-wide collections of Rs 121 crore and counting. At the time of filing this report, the film was still in theatres and managing close to Rs 75 lakh on its 6th Sunday.

By the start of week 7 the collections had dropped to Rs 15 lakh per day, perhaps owing to the buzz that the film was OTT bound shortly. Su From So was released by Dulquer Salmaan in Kerala with a Malayalam dubbed version a week after the Kannada film came out. It clashed with Sumathy Valavu, also a horror comedy, with the latter winning over the box office. JP’s film, however, found a fairly decent following in Kerala, registering Rs 5.7 cr net from the state.

The film eventually also got a Telugu dubbed release, which did not fare as well, managing only Rs 2 crore net after nearly a month in theatres. There was buzz of a probable Hindi dubbed version, but that didn’t materialize and neither did Tamil. It was then reported that Raj had been approached for remake rights and that the Tamil version did not come out because NS Rajkumar is set to do the film for that market.
