A beautiful village with beautiful people – that’s the setting of actor-filmmaker JP Thuminad’s Kannada directorial Su From So, which is set for release on July 25, 2025. Ravi Anna (Shaneel Gautham) is an important figure in this tight-knit community. All was well in this village, until a strange knock on the door of Ravi Anna’s house and a few others caused widespread panic among them. In a village that’s never faced a problem of this magnitude, they must bandy together to get to the bottom of it. And the first step in that direction – exorcism – to get rid of Sulochana from Someshwar. Who is this Sulochana from Someshwar? That’s the crux of this horror comedy.

JP Thuminad, a popular name in Tulu cinema, has been making inroads in Kannada films too, with roles in films like Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B and Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye. Su From So is his Kannada film directorial debut, which has been backed by Raj B Shetty’s Lighter Buddha Films. It is Raj’s latest production venture, after last year’s Toby. The team had earlier released a song from the film, Danks Anthem, which caught the attention of audiences, as has the trailer that’s out now.

The film also stars Prakash Thuminad, Sandhya Arekere, Deepak Rai Panaje, Mime Ramdas, among others. Music is by Sumedh K, while cinematography is handled by S Chandrashekaran and Raj’s regular collaborator Pravin Shriyan. Going by the trailer, it seems that Raj’s role is limited to producer and lyricist only on Su From So.

As an actor, Raj will next be seen in 45, which is scheduled to release on August 15. The film is the directorial debut of composer Arjun Janya and has Real Star Upendra and Century Star Shivarajkumar also on board. Thereafter, he has Gentleman and Guru Shishyaru director Jadeshaa K Hampi’s Landlord, as the antagonist to leading man Duniya Vijay.
