Suriya 45 is Karuppu: Trisha stars opposite the actor, along with a supporting cast that includes Yogi Babu and Indrans. Composer Sai Abhyankkar replaces AR Rahman

Fresh off Retro, actor Suriya is working on multiple projects now. One of them include Suriya 45, which is written and directed by actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji. The makers of the film unveiled the title of the project on Friday, to celebrate the occasion of the director's birthday. Suriya 45 is now called Karuppu.

The wait is over for Suriya fans! Suriya 45 has a title now and it is called Karuppu. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film will mark Suriya’s first collaboration with Balaji, who is an actor himself. The poster shows Suriya silhouette against a red backdrop as he carries machete. A larger silhouette of a village deity statue can be seen behind him, confirming the speculations that the film will be a divine actioner, which will have a spiritual touch.

Suriya 45 is backed by the production banner behind films like Kaithi and Farhana, Dream Warrior Pictures and will be made on a lavish scale. Actor Trisha, who was recently seen in Thug Life, will pair up with Suriya after a long time, with fans eagerly expecting their combination onscreen once again.

Apart from the lead pair, others part of the cast include Yogi Babu, Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Natarajan Subramaniam aka Natty, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, and others. GK Vishnu will be cranking the camera with Vikram Mor handling the action choreography of the film. R Kalavanan is the editor. Arjun Venjaramoodu handles the production design.

Sai Abhyankkar replaces AR Rahman in Karuppu

While the makers had initially announced AR Rahman as the composer, he was subsequently replaced by young musician Sai Abhyankkar, who has made popular indie tracks like Aasa Kuda and Katchi Sera. A release date for Karuppu is yet to be announced by the makers. It is expected that more exciting updates will drop on Suriya’s birthday next month.
