Sushant Singh Rajput's family has maintained that the actor did not die by suicide in 2020. The late actor's father is hopeful about the case, now that the Bombay High Court has agreed to hear Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the dual deaths - of Sushant and his manager Disha Salian. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, February 19.

Bombay High Court has agreed to hear the PIL filed by Rashid Khan Pathan, President of the Supreme Court and High Court Litigants Association of India. The plea calls for the questioning and arrest of politician Aditya Thackeray in connection with the deaths of Disha Salian on June 8 and Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2020.

Sushant Singh Rajput's father reaffirms no death by suicide

While talking to ANI, Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh felt hopeful under the new Maharashtra government. "We hoped for justice with the CBI, but it didn't do its job on time," he said, adding that he is hopeful about whatever decision is taken under the new CM. Getting emotional, he also spoke about losing his only son. "We can say that Sushant Singh would not have committed suicide," he assured, refusing to comment any further stating that he would leave the decision up to the court.

Sushant Singh Rajput was a TV actor who was trying to make it big in Bollywood. His career kickstarted with the evergreen TV show Pavitra Rishta. The actor immortalized the character of Manav on the show, but soon, SSR switched his focus to Bollywood. He made his hit debut with Kai Po Che! and became a recognized face with MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. His last movie before his demise was Chhichhore and that too was a superhit. The actor's last ever film was Mukesh Chhabra's directorial debut movie Dil Bechara, which streamed on OTT a month after his sudden demise.

Amid COVID-19 lockdown, the news of Sushant Singh Rajput's death broke. While initial reports suggested that he died by suicide, soon after many, including Sushant's family, protested and pressurized the authorities to probe into the matter further. The matter was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who concluded that the cause of death was asphyxia (breathlessness). It is still not certain if Sushant died by suicide or if there was foul play involved.
