Vijay Sethupathi and Aditi Rao Hydari’s silent romantic drama film recently marked its theatrical premiere in the dual languages of Hindi and Tamil. The duo graced Kapil Sharma’s popular Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show season 4, along with their music director, AR Rahman, and co-actor, Sidharth Jadhav. Host Kapil Sharma welcomed the stunning squad of Gandhi Talks and also extended his wishes after the episode. From talking about the silent film and its uniqueness to some entertainment-packed game segments, the episode turned exciting. However, one thing that left fans disappointed was the absence of AR Rahman’s soulful performance. Check out the highlights of the new episode…
Music composer AR Rahman made his first appearance after the communal row that sparked into a controversy. In the new episode of Kapil Sharma’s Netflix celebrity chat show, AR Rahman, who is the music director of Gandhi Talks, engaged in some feel-good conversations. Renowned for his introvert personality, AR Rahman maintained his charm with a few words in the episode. Host and comedian Kapil Sharma pulled his leg for speaking very little. When asked why he answers in one or two words, AR Rahman said, “This movie is about no dialogues, so I was trying my best to not speak. ‘Maaf kar dijiye’ (Please forgive me).” Later, Kapil gave a CD of Lata Mangeshkar’s songs to swear on that for replying to the questions in the same one line rather than a few monosyllables.
When Kapil Sharma complimented Vijay Sethupathi for his versatility in different streams like Tamil cinema, Hindi cinema, and OTT space and said that he is everywhere, he questioned him how does it feel to see that his hard work has paid off and reached the final destination with Kapil Sharma’s show? He replied in a witty tone and said, “Sometimes not in a good way. See where I ended up.”

Gandhi Talks is a silent film where there are no dialogues, and the actors convey their emotions solely through their facial expressions and dialogues. When asked about the challenges of making a silent film, Gandhi Talks’ director Kishor Pandurang Belekar revealed that he began writing the movie in 2000. “When I started writing, I think after finishing the first fifteen to twenty minutes, I realized it was working without dialogue. Because I act out the scenes as I write so putting dialogue was unnecessary because everything was clear. As I continued writing, I realized that power and money create a lot of noise. However, honest people without money have no voice. That’s how these characters came to life. So that’s why the film has no dialogue,” said the director as he thanked the ensemble for their brilliant artistic flair.
Kapil Sharma challenged the Gandhi Talks team to play a headphone challenge where the players will be given headphones, and they will have to guess the phrases and then enact them to the other players. From Vijay Sethupathi to AR Rahman, the original message gets corrupted on the way. Later, AR Rahman emphasized how this happens in real life as well when simple words or intentions get misunderstood on the way. For the unversed, AR Rahman got entangled in a controversy after his communal remark went viral. Later, he published a video clarifying his true intentions, which were meant not to hurt anyone.
Sunil Grover impersonated a music artist as Diamond Raja. He then introduced each guest on the show with a sweet rhyme. AR Rahman and Vijay Sethupathi surprised fans with a cute and simple dance step for the audience.
Meanwhile, the eighth episode will drop on February 7 with AP Dhillon and Anubhav Bassi’s duo. You can watch all episodes of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix.
