Zeenat Aman speaks up! Her conditions for a genuine biopic

Zeenat Aman sets the record straight on why her biopic needs her input.

Biopics are something that will always be in vogue in celluloid. From actors and filmmakers to sports personalities and even entrepreneurs, several popular celebrities and underdogs got their stories narrated on screen by prominent filmmakers. Some have gone down in history, while others are easily forgettable. Zeenat Aman now declares that no biopic of hers can be made without her involvement. The legendary actor took to her Instagram page and wrote a lengthy note about her thoughts on the matter. 

The importance of personal input

Zeenat shared her vintage photo and wrote that, to some, this may sound like the ravings of an elderly woman, but she truly believes that it would be irresponsible to create a biopic about her without her active participation. Her input is crucial for any research aimed at understanding her accurately. She would bet money that there are a hundred more things about her that no one else knows, for every fact about her that's out there. An essential part of comprehending her journey is the treasure trove of landmarks, tales, and personal discoveries. Her life has certainly been eventful.

Also, Zeenat is not shy about saying that she is uncomfortable when total strangers recount her experience, particularly men. She knows it's been 50 years, but the "sex symbol" label will never go away, and if the wrong person tells the story, it might easily become a work of crude voyeurism and speculation. She is all too familiar with how society stereotypes "bold women."

The possibility of a biopic

No one should ever mistake her for a seductress or a damsel in distress. Plus, she is definitely not a helpless victim. People have been talking about making a movie or TV show, and she is starting to get on board with the notion.

Is it on the cards? Zeenat doesn't know. However, a compassionate director, a courageous writer, an impeccable cast, and a producer who will—to borrow a quote—show her the money would be required.
