Sarvam Maya Review - In terms of simplicity and pure amusement to watch in theatres, it may have been a long time since Malayalis experienced a good family entertainer without any gimmicks. This could be the reason why Sarvam Maya aroused some expectation before its release. With Sarvam Maya, Akhil Sathyan revives the storytelling style of his father, renowned Malayalam director Sathyan Anthikad, which is appealing for viewers of all ages.
Atheist and aspiring musician Prabhendhu Nambhoothiri comes from a well-known family of priests. He stays away from his family in order to pursue his passion, and also because he and his father have different opinions. But due to a dire situation, he must return to his ancestral home and take up a part-time job as a priest. Soon after a pooja ceremony, he encounters a ghost that completely upends his life. What starts out as a strange problem quickly turns into a journey that permanently alters his life.
Sarvam Maya contains more humour than scary scenes or jumpscares, hence it cannot be classified as a horror comedy exactly. For those who missed seeing an easy-going movie in cinemas over the holiday season, it is undoubtedly the ideal viewing experience. Akhil takes the audience on a rollercoaster ride through a variety of emotions, including love, laughter, trauma, and desire, with a simple narrative of a priest forming an unlikely friendship with a ghost.

As anticipated, this movie is anchored by the performances of Nivin Pauly and Aju Varghese, whose rapport will make you laugh for a while. Occasionally, both actors remind us of the light-hearted moments that the Mohanlal-Sreenivasan or Mohanlal-Innocent combo used to deliver in the 90s and 2000s.
The casting of Riya Shibu, who makes an outstanding debut with Sarvam Maya, is another facet of the movie that merits appreciation. She keeps up with Nivin's eclectic style of comedy in every way possible with her charming performance. You will also want to see Janardhanan more on screen after enjoying his performance in this film. Despite having little screen time, Preity Mukhundhan, Vineeth, and Raghunath Paleri provide some poignant elements to the film.
Along with Sharan Velayudhan's cinematography, which effectively depicts the beautiful landscapes of Palakkad, Justin Prabhakaran's music also works well in the movie. As long as the plot keeps the audience interested and amused, the predictable aspect of Sarvam Maya is unlikely to be a distraction.
Sarvam Maya Verdict - Nivin Pauly and Aju Varghese are portrayed in Akhil Sathyan's film in a way that appeals to Malayalis. Additionally, Riya Shibu is a real find.
