Rishabh Pant is poised to return to the Indian Test squad after the home series against South Africa, following his recovery from a right foot fracture sustained during the England series.

Rishabh Pant is set to make a much-awaited comeback to the Indian Test squad after the home series against South Africa. Pant, who had fractured his right foot during the England vs India test series, has been out of action since then.

Has Rishabh Pant recovered fully?

The dynamic wicket-keeper batter went through a tough rehab process after he got injured during the fourth test in Manchester. Pant got injured while going for a ramp shot against medium pacer Chris Woakes. Although Pant came to later in the match, he was not able to do wicket-keeping and was ruled out of the fifth and final test.

Since then, it has been three months, and Pant has updated the fans with his progress via social media posts. In his latest Instagram post, Pant has revealed that he is out of the crutch, although there is heavy taping on his right foot.

When can Rishabh Pant return to action?

After the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian men’s cricket team will face the West Indies in a two-match home test series, starting from 2 October in Ahmedabad, followed by the second test in Delhi from 10 October.

The Men in Blue then fly to Australia for a white-ball series where they will play three ODIs and five T20I matches. The ODI series will start from 19 October, while the T20I series will commence on 29 October in Canberra. The Australia series will end on 8th November.

India will then face the current World Test Champions, South Africa, for two tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is at home. The first test will start on 14th November in Kolkata.

Pant, who is yet to run or walk properly, will not be able to feature in the West Indies and Australia series. But, as per the reports, he will be available for selection during the home series against South Africa. Till then looks like Dhruv Jurel will remain India’s main wicket-keeper batter in Tests, while N. Jagadesan will be the second-choice keeper.

The squad for the West Indies test series will be announced on 23rd or 24th of September.
