A good start for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as pacer Yash Thakur struck early sending back Delhi Capitals' (DC) opener David Warner in Match 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Warner, who had barely come out to bat, required some treatment from the physio after being struck on the hand while attempting a lap shot off Naveen-ul-Haq. His left hand was strapped, but he looked shaky while playing.

Then, in the 3.3rd over, Yash Thakur bowled him out. The bowler was a bit lucky as Warner shuffled across to play the pickup shot or the lap, but he got cramped for room and was struck on the back thigh. The ball, however, lobbed up and spun back onto the stumps, dislodging the leg bail. Warner tried to push the ball away but was a bit late, and he had to walk back for 8(9) [4s-1]. He was later seen sitting in the dressing room with a hot water bag in his hand.

As of writing this article, in 9 overs, DC has scored 73 runs and lost two wickets. The other opener, Prithvi Shaw, was set and looking to attack but lost his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi for 32 off 22 balls.

Earlier, LSG batter Ayush Badoni went on to score a well-deserved half-century, helping them post 167 runs at their home venue Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

DC bowlers saw Kuldeep Yadav pick three wickets while Khaleel Ahmed picked two. Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar both had one wicket each to their name.
