After India's historic 96-run victory over New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final, Varun Chakaravarthy humorously referenced his infamous "Tea Cup" trophy pose to poke fun at Pakistan.

While the rest of the Indian Men's Cricket team is busy hoisting the actual silverware, mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has once again turned to a modest kitchen silverware to do his talking. Following India’s historic 96-run victory over New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final, Chakaravarthy took a hilarious, pointed bite at arch-rivals Pakistan with a recreation of his now-infamous "Tea Cup" trophy pose.

Taking to Instagram just hours after the festivities at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Varun Chakaravarthy shared a photo of himself chilling with the World Cup trophy in one hand and a steaming cup of tea in the other.
To understand why the Indian fans laughed at Varun Chakravarthy's post, we must look back to the Asia Cup 2025.
After a solid tournament where the Indian Men's Cricket team dominated everyone to win the Asia Cup 2025, India had to return to India without a trophy.
The Indian players refused to accept the trophy from the PCB Chief due to administrative disagreement, and the team returned home without the trophy despite winning the silverware. Not only that, Mohsin Naqvi, the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Pakistan's Interior Minister, walked with the trophy despite India winning the title.
The next morning, Chakaravarthy went viral by posting a photo of himself tucked in bed with a coffee mug placed where the trophy should have been. He later admitted in an interview that he had pre-planned a "sleeping with the trophy" photoshoot. When they could not return to India with the actual trophy, he simply used his morning brew as a stand-in.

Varun Chakaravarthy’s on-field performance in 2026 has been a bit up and down. The ICC No.1 T20I bowler finished the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 as India’s joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets.
However, his aggressive "wicket-taking" lengths also proved costly, as he conceded 287 runs across his 31 overs, which is very rare for him.
However, the KKR star has clearly mastered the art of the post-match troll as the fans loved and laughed at his sarcastic post after the success at the T20 World Cup 2026.
