Earlier today, the buzz on social media was that Rocking Star Yash’s upcoming film with Geetu Mohandas would be split into two parts. The film, Toxic, is said to be about the drug mafia in Goa, although no one from the team has said anything to this effect. But for the title and release date, Geetu and Yash have not made any other official announcement yet, with speculation about the rest of the cast still rife.

There have been conflicting reports that shooting for the film has begun, while others state that it will start shortly. Either which way, Toxic has to be in theatres in another 11 months, if they are sticking to the original plan. Could there be truth to the rumours of a 2-part film? Well, in the past, before Toxic was officially announced, Yash had stated that his next would not be a ‘big film’ but that it would be good in terms of content. It was quality over scale, he’d said, which should make the timeline to April 10, 2025, immensely doable.

What could prove problematic, though, is the scheduling of artistes dates, considering that names like Kareena Kapoor Khan , Kiara Advani and Shruthi Haasan have been heard for the three pivotal ladies’ roles in the film. Kareena is said to be playing Yash’s sister in the film.

None of these names have been confirmed by the production house and despite multiple requests to them to provide an update on the status of the film, no information has been forthcoming. The lack of local talent among the ladies, though, has been the subject of discussion on social media.

Also, in an earlier interview, Geetu had spoken about how she does not operate with a bound script, with improvisation happening every moment on set. At the time she had said that she was looking at presenting a gangster tale from a female perspective.
