Manjadikkuru, with the English translation, “Lucky Red Seeds”, emerged in the year 2008 with the direction from Anjali Menon, won the FIPRESCI Award for best Malayalam film and Hassan Kutty award for Best Debutant Indian director. The script consisted of love, hypocrisy, nostalgic moments, sympathy, sorrow, a metaphorical lesson for the audience, which the director kept alive throughout the film. The most interesting feature was that Anjali Menon portrayed the world of adults from a child’s point of view. Siddhartha, in the role of Vicky, shines with his innocence and acting skills. The winner of the “6th South Asian International Film Festival 2009” to Kerala State Film Awards 2012 for different categories received appreciation for its script, and it has been phrased as an enchanting movie by the critics. Penned by the director, the film depicts the relationship between the family members of the large Nair family who came together for a sixteen-day funeral of Vicky’s grandfather. While during these sixteen days, Vicky learns about himself as a person, he also learns about his family culture than he ever knew.
