Directed by Academy Award-winning director Taika Waititi, the American superhero film is a direct sequel to the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok. Based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, the film will be the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Waititi is well known for directing the 2019 black comedy film Jojo Rabbit, in which he also starred as a fictitious version of Adolf Hitler. Set after the events of the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, the plot follows Thor, the God of Thunder, who tries his best to find inner peace away from planet Earth. Things take a turn when Gorr the God Butcher, a killer seeking the extinction of the gods comes into the picture, which forces Thor to return to the battlefield along with Valkyrie, the king of new Asgard, Korg, a Kronan gladiator, and Jane Foster, who has now become the Mighty Thor. Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Natalie Portman reprise their roles as Thor, Valkyrie, and Jane Foster, and the rest of the main cast includes Christian Bale, Waititi, Jamie Alexander, Russell Crowe. The film also features Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Jeff Goldblum, Matt Damon, Sam Neill, and Luke Hemsworth.
