Film overview

Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) appear to be the picture-perfect couple in the edgy comedy Anyone But You. Their connection turns icy after a passionate first date, leading to them attending an abrupt wedding in Australia. As a result, they act like any other couple of grown adults would: they act like a couple.

Darren Barnet, Bryan Brown, Rachel Griffiths, Hadley Robinson, Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, and the supporting characters round out the ensemble.

Actor insights

Earlier, during the premiere of Anyone But You, Powell discussed the factors that contribute to the film's success, saying that it is all about location, scope, and attempting to have large set pieces and laughter. According to the actor, one has to consider how to get people to theatres as they plan to produce a romantic comedy on the big screen, and that's not easy at all.

Sweeney described Bea as a character who is really trying to figure out who the hell they are, and they don't know what they want. This is a situation that many twentysomethings can relate to, and she adds that she thinks people need rom-coms back in their lives, highlighting the genre's significance in cinema.

Box office performance

Despite mixed reviews, the film still grossed $200 million worldwide.
