Only hours after it was reported that a crystal-clear high-definition print of the Kannada film Blink had been pirated ahead of its OTT release, it has officially dropped on the streamer, albeit in some areas only. Amazon Prime Video, which holds the digital rights of the film, has put Blink in the store for rental-only for audiences in the UK and USA. The UK rental, though, is 3.49 pounds. The India release of the film is yet to be determined, but should happen shortly, given that the streamer is in possession of the content. Blink is said to have got a pay-per-view deal with the streamer, so it should be free to stream for subscribers as and when it becomes available.

Blink is more than just a trip to the past

Blink, directed by debutant Srinidhi Bengaluru and produced by AJ Ravichandra, is a sci-fi flick involving time travel. In the film, Dheekshith Shetty plays Apurva, a collegian, who grew up believing that his father abandoned the family when the former was very young. However, when he then meets an elderly gentleman called Arivu, the latter says that the story Apurva grew up with about his father is not true. Determined to get to the root of this, Apurva travels back in time with Arivu’s help, only to find out that some questions are better left unanswered.

Dheekshith Shetty was joined by Vajradheer Jain, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Chaithra J Achar, Mandara Battalahalli and Suresh Anagalli, among others, on the cast. Blink opened to positive reviews, despite the struggle for screens/shows . After the release, the film went without shows for almost a week, before the team could manage to get it back in theatres. Eventually, they had a 50-day run in movie halls, before heading to OTT.

As of last evening, producer Ravichandra was in firefighting mode, getting an anti-piracy organization to help take down links with the pirated HD print of Blink. The filmmaker was worried about the loss of revenue if the pirated print is widely circulated.
