Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023 but was also criticised for its depiction of misogyny.
After its December 1, 2023, release, Ranbir Kapoor's Animal hasn't stopped making headlines. Though several celebrities came out in favor of the movie, many celebrities, including Javed Akhtar, Kiran Rao, Konkana Sen Sharma, and others, spoke out against it. Actress Huma Qureshi, who was recently seen in Tarla, now discussed the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed movie and gave it high marks. Not only that, but she also revealed her desire to play a character in a movie that is akin to Ranbir's.
Huma Qureshi, in an interview with India Today, spoke about the Ranbir Kapoor starrer film and said, "I loved the film and really enjoyed it. I loved the machismo, action and music. It is a very crafty film and I feel like all kind of films should be made and, as an audience, it is your choice whether you want to watch that film or not."
The Gangs Of Wasseypur actress further added she would like to do a film where she can hold a machine gun and kill thousands of people. She was quoted as saying, "I would love to do a film where I can hold a machine gun, killing thousands of people. I think, as an actor, it is very exciting to be part of something that is so destructive in the way. That's the way I would put it. When I see a Wolf of Wall Street or edgy films and I see an Animal, I think, as an actor, it is very exciting to play something like that. There is something about it. I don't know what it is."
The actress, who has appeared also talked about the polarising reactions that the film which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol received. She said that it's very polarising and there will be debates and talks about how they impact people. She further said that if films impacted society as much as we say then society would have been improved by now. "If it has not improved by now, it won’t even get worse now. I am saying make Animal and make Maharani as well. As long as people like it, they will watch it,” she said.
After her recently released film, Tarla, Huma Qureshi is currently preparing for the release of Saurabh Bhave's third season of Maharani. Apart from her, the show also stars Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti, Anuja Sathe, Vineet Kumar, Pramod Pathak, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sushil Pandey, and Sohum Shah. Huma plays Rani Bharti, also known as Maharani, in the show.
