Kannada actor Adityaa’s next release is an investigative thriller called Kangaroo, a film that the team says is for those who love their families. The film is set to be in theatres shortly, which was revealed during the trailer launch earlier today. Kangaroo will be in theatres as an early birthday gift for the leading man and will be in theatres on May 3.

When Adityaa was approached to be a part of the thriller Kangaroo, director Kishore Megalamane didn’t give him a narration, instead, he showed him the film. Kishore, as it turns out, had done an animated version of what he intended to shoot, which floored Adityaa. Speaking at the trailer launch of Kangaroo earlier today, Aditya said that the animated version was so gripping that he knew it would be even better as a live-action movie.

Kangaroo, says Adityaa, is one of his career-best movies, a statement he’s made not because it is his film, but for its good story. “Kishore has taken an action hero and made a film with no action and yet presented a gripping narrative about how my character, a police official, goes about solving a murder mystery. My character is sent to Chikamagaluru to investigate a certain case, but while there a bunch of new developments occur, all of which make for an edge-of-the-seat experience,” says the actor.

The twists in the tale are so unique, says Adityaa, that it is impossible for anyone to guess the outcome. “When I was watching the animated version of the film, I could not tell how certain things were going to play out,” he adds. Adityaa is paired with Kannadathi fame Ranjani Raghavan in the film. As his wife, she plays a psychiatrist, a role that he thinks will pave the way for her to be the casting choice in female-centric films going forward.
