Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep was the chief guest at Daali Dhananjaya’s Gurudev Hoysala trailer launch last evening. Sudeep and Dhananjaya have a budding friendship going on, while the former is also clear to the producers, Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj of KRG Studios, so there was no way he could avoid this event when invited. Sudeep was in a jovial mood throughout the proceedings, poking fun at Dhananjaya for not reciprocating words of praise for his co-star Amrutha Iyengar, who only had nice things to say about him, among others.
On a more serious note, he then said, “When I walked into the venue, I saw the posters that read Daali 25 and it didn’t immediately strike me what that meant. When I asked around, I was told that it signifies Dhananjaya’s 25th film. For a moment, I was taken aback, because I had sounded the clap for his first film and in the time since, he has done 25, while I have done only 8 movies. When I then sat next to him, I asked him if he has really completed 25 films and he said it is the sum of bunch of roles of varying importance and screen time. I have also done such roles, but I still can’t stretch it beyond 8 and that too because Kabzaa came my way; else it would have been 7. So, it is a great achievement that he has done 25 films,” said Sudeep.
The superstar then went on to tell the audience about a conversation he had with Dhananjaya earlier in the evening. “I had asked him how he was feeling and he said he was nervous. I will repeat what I told him. I said, ‘When you get into the film industry as a newbie, you need to be fearful of audience reaction and nervous about whether they will come to the theatre. Once audiences accept you, you should enjoy cinema and never be worried about the results’. Dhananjaya has already been accepted. You have a long way to go; enjoy your career. You have now come to the exact route in your career,” said Sudeep.
