Filmmaker Omung Kumar, who helmed films like Mary Kom and Sarabjit, is ready to work on his new project. The director has reportedly bought the rights to make a film about Ramlali's life. For the uninitiated, Ramlali is a woman who stood up against dacoit Dadua, whose reign of terror dominated the ravines of Uttar Pradesh. For this movie, the makers have the names of three actresses in their minds. Either Kriti Sanon, Bhumi Pednekar, or Nushrratt Bharruccha might play the lead role.
A source from the creative team of the movie informed Mid-Day that the film has been titled Ramlali. The film will shed light on how the woman became Phoolan of Chitrakoot and Patha ki Sherni. For the past few weeks, Omung Kumar had been busy doing the decor for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding celebrations. And now, he is expected to lock the script's final draft. Following the same, the casting will begin.
"Randeep Hooda is the top choice to play Dadua. For Ramlali, the makers are thinking of approaching Bhumi, Kriti, or Nushrratt," a source told the tabloid. It is expected that the filmmaker will begin working on the film by the year-end.

For those who are unaware, Ramlali took up arms to fight the dacoits. District Magistrate Jagannath Singh recognized her contribution by giving her a licensed rifle. Later, she taught self-defense to girls and women in her village.
One of her real-life incidents will also become a turning point in Omung Kumar's film narrative. Back in 2001, when Dadua abducted a bank manager's son, he managed to escape and sought refuge in Ramlali's house. Even though Dadua and his dacoits came to Ramlali's door, the lady refused to hand over the boy to them. This episode of her bravery became widely known.
