At a time when Kannada films continue to be shunned by major streaming platforms, it is not surprising that the number of movies that do manage to make it to OTT every now and then remain a handful. Here’s a look at the latest Kannada original films that are available to stream now.

Director Jayathirtha Jayanna picked a real-life inter-faith love story from the 80s for his film set in Bengaluru, and starring Dhanveerah and Megha Shetty in the lead.

Director Yogaraj Bhat's first-ever sports drama, Garadi is set against traditional wrestling and the relationship dynamics between a popular coach and his students. A classic underdog tale, the film has Yashas Surya in the lead, who is paired with Sonal Monteiro. The film also has Challenging Star Darshan in a pivotal cameo.

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B

The second instalment of director Hemanth M Rao’s intense love story, featuring Rakshit Shetty in the lead, is finally on OTT. Released in theatres on November 17, 2023, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B was expected to stream within a month, pretty much like Side A, but for the longest time, there was uncertainty about the platform it would come on. Until Rakshit, who has also produced the film, confirmed that Side B would also be on Amazon Prime Video, along with Side A. The film, which also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Chaithra J Achar, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Ramesh Indira, among others, picks up 10 years after the events of Side A, and follows Manu (Rakshit), as he tries to get a fresh start after his jail sentence.

The launch vehicle of politico Zameer Ahmed Khan’s son, Zaid Khan, Banaras, directed by J Jayathirtha, is a love story with a sci-fi angle to it, involving time loops. Zaid played Sid, a college student, whose prank on Dhani (Sonal Monteiro) goes horribly wrong, following which she relocates to Varanasi. What happens when Sid follows her there to make amends is what the film is about.
