Hi Shalini Pandey! Tell us what does the term ‘Mother’ mean to you?
The term ‘Mother’ is actually something one just cannot describe in mere one or two words. For me, it's unconditional love... its selflessness. A mother is the most powerful being and nobody can actually debate about it.

Do you think that the concept of ‘Mother’s Day’ has taken the commercial route?
I feel and believe that every day is a ‘Mother's Day’. Mere one day is just not enough. Actually, every day is not enough as well. Since my mother and I stay in different cities, I try to make her happy every day by calling her on the phone. There are times when I forget to call her. But, most of the time, I do call her every day and send her some flowers as and when possible.

Do you think that the concept of ‘Mother’s Day’ has today, taken the commercial route?
The concept of Mothers Day.... I think it's been commercialized since we live in an era of social media. To each its own. Everyday, ‘Mother’s Day’ should be celebrated as there cannot be anybody like one’s mother. No one can match that feeling. But, I think that, we should thank our mothers everyday is what I feel.

How has been your relationship with your mother while growing up?
As growing up, my relationship with my mother has changed a lot and for the better, because I was not that close to my mother earlier. I was always a Daddy’s girl. But, then, I understood my mother so much as a woman and I realized that she is so strong and the kind of strength that she has. My perspective of mother has changed because I have understood her better way today than I used to. And, as I grow older, I will understand her better and better.

What's the most valuable lesson that you have learnt from your mother?
I have realized that my mother has got a lot of resilience and strength. She is somebody who is always calm. I have never seen her getting angry on me at all... till date. Whatever she has done for me till date, I just cannot thank her enough for that.

Do you understand her more now?
Oh yes! Also, since we live in different cities, I understand her more now. Sometimes, I feel that, she is my child now. I like to pamper her, spoil her as much as possible.

What’s the favourite food prepared by your mother that you like the most?
I like anything and everything that my mother cooks. The secret of her cooking is that, whatever she cooks, she cooks with a lot of love and purity.
