Rebel Moon is Zack Snyder’s original idea that is now turned into a franchise at Netflix

Zack Snyder is currently busy promoting his new Netflix franchise Rebel Moon, with Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child Of Fire recently released on the streaming platform. The world that Snyder has shaped is his brainchild, which he initially pitched to Lucasfilm as an idea for a mature Star Wars movie. However, the production company rejected it, and it never became a Star Wars film. Years later, Snyder is grateful that it never got made into a Star Wars movie because he now has a Netflix franchise to his name. Interestingly, he is contemplating expanding this universe into vast territories.
About Rebel Moon:
Rebel Moon tells the story of the Moon Of Veldt, where a girl appears out of nowhere and starts living with the farming community. When their settlement is attacked by an enemy, the same girl comes to their rescue. She sets out to form a team of rebels to beat the enemy, laying the foundation for Zack Snyder’s expansive world.
Zack Snyder’s Idea:
According to a Screenrant report, Zack Snyder is indeed thinking of expanding this world beyond Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, which is set to release in April 2024. In a recent chat, the filmmaker spoke about releasing a history book based on the Motherworld in the course of the process. The idea is to develop intellectual property (IP) into films beyond the second part, an animated series, spin-off comic books, and a narrative podcast.

Zack Snyder said, “I feel like eventually there’ll be some sort of The Great History of the Motherworld book that we put out. We can’t not; it’s too much information.” Confirming that his book of lore hasn’t stopped growing, he also mentioned that it is not just him and his co-writers Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten who have been working on the history of the Motherworld, but also the creative team that shaped the myths fueling this vast galaxy.
“It starts at whatever their origin myth is, their genesis, and then it goes to their Iron Age and their Stone Ages and their medieval conflicts and how the royal family was really formed,” he said. Whether Snyder gets to develop this world into a universe depends on the success of the films. With mixed critic reviews, the film has still managed to find a strong viewership. However, the real test lies in whether this audience tunes in for the second part.
