Netflix in 2023 was looking to invest in IPs that were unique and fresh, with not much available for the wider audience to compare them with. In this attempt, they had some hits and misses, but it was all worth it the moment they launched one of their most successful shows One Piece. The live-action adaptation of the popular anime came with many doubts for those who have followed the IP for years in its original form religiously. Whether the streamer would manage to keep the core and magic of the world intact, and how the live-action would look for a story filled with unearthly elements, were questions that continued. But all these doubts evaporated as soon as season one dropped worldwide, and fans were hooked instantly. This success motivated the streaming giant to greenlight season 2.

One Piece Already Has A Season 3 In Place?

The fans have been eagerly waiting for the second season, and while it has not been very long since the release of season one, they are already restless to watch season two. The makers have been developing the second season, and we have been reading updates about the smooth process for a while now. But now, while we await the new season, what if we tell you that the streaming giant has already greenlit season 3? And not just that, but seasons two and three will enter production together? Read on to know everything you should about this mad, crazy update of the day.

Yes, you read that right, and no, we aren't talking based on any speculation from any scooper but a cast member who was also a part of the first season has revealed this. One Piece star Brashaad Mayweather, who plays Patty in season one, was in an interview with Comicbook. It is here where he chose to speak about the future of the show and suggested that the streaming giant is going to film the second and the third seasons back to back. However, the last update said that the second season would enter production this summer, and we are already in June.

"We'll see if they flashback to it because they're filming two seasons – seasons two and three (of One Piece) – back to back starting soon. So we'll see what happens," the actor shared. The update is a wild one because streamers follow this strategy only for shows and original films that have done monstrously well for them. The last time Netflix did this was for Avatar: The Last Airbender. It will be interesting to see what the streaming giant is cooking and whether they announce the third season even before the release of the second one.
