Durga Puja is less than a month away and festivity is in the air. The Bengali film industry is busy with multiple releases this festive season. Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s Raktabeej, Srijit Mukheji’s Dawshom Awbotaar, Bagha Jatin produced by Dev and directed by Arun Roy, and Jongole Mitin Mashi by Arindam Sil are the big releases during Puja.

Several songs of Raktabeej were recently released. Dohar’s popular song Gouri Elo was used in a new form. Veteran actress Anashua Majumdar was seen in the song – sitting on a wheelchair and offering Puja gifts to the domestic helps. The actress plays a specially abled woman in the film.

Anashua has acted in several Shiboprosad-Nandita films, but this type of role is the first for her. It has been reported that the wheelchair used by Shiboprosad’s mother was used in the film. Hence, a lot of emotional aspects are involved here.

According to a report by Anandabazar Online, Anashua said, “Any role demands mental preparation. The film is a thriller and the subject appealed to me. I am grateful to the directors for choosing me.” Playing a specially abled person is sometimes physically taxing. Why did she agree to do that? Anashua said, “The woman wants to live with everybody. She has only her brother in her life. Those who work in her house are her lifeline. The brother-sister chemistry is brilliantly written here. The story made me think deeply and finally, I was happy working in the film.”

Anashua’s new serial, Jol Thoi Thoi Bhalobasa, starts on September 25. She will soon start shooting for the web series directed by Rahool Mukherjee.
