The Kannada films that were released in theatres in January and February and did not have streaming partners at the time are coming to OTT one by one. Case of Kondana and Bachelor Party are already there, and only a day ago, For Regn began streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Blink is headed to the same platform, and now Ravike Prasanga has also fixed a date.
A little while ago, an official post by the team of Ravike Prasanga confirmed that it will begin streaming on Prime Video on April 23.
Ravike Prasanga is Santhosh Kodenkeri’s debut directorial, based on a story written by his wife, Pavana. The film revolves around the protagonist’s wish to wear a designer blouse and how that causes her issues. Geetha Bharathi Bhat plays Sanvi, a 28-year-old who wants to impress a prospective groom, an NRI, on their first meeting, for which she wants to wear a designer blouse. Local tailor Chandranna (Sampath) takes on the task on the assurance that she will shed a few kilos.
After the initial enthusiasm about losing weight, Sanvi does not live up to her end of the bargain and following some miscommunication between her and Chandranna, he gives her the blouse according to the measurements she said she would shrink to. With the blouse and the groom of her dreams going up in smoke, Sanvi decides to take action by hauling Chandranna to court. What happens thereafter is what Ravike Prasanga is about. Ravike Prasanga also stars Suman Ranganath, Rakesh Maiya, Padmaja Rao, Kushi Achar, Hanumantha Rao, and Praveen Atharva, among others.
After content acquisition on Prime Video for Kannada cinema had almost ground to a halt in the last quarter of the financial year gone by, the fresh one looks more promising, if the films dropping on the platform are any indication. It remains to be seen if these films have been picked for a limited period only on pay-per-view conditions or if there is a long-term deal in play.
