Alia Bhatt’s Darlings is a special film for all involved. The movie, which is set to release on Netflix in August, marks the first production venture of the actress and she’s teaming up with none other than Shah Rukh Khan for her debut as a producer.
Shah Rukh took to his Twitter to wish Alia all the best for her maiden production and had shared a special message recently. "Lil one I am also so anxious that u shared the responsibility of Eternal Sunshine Productions first film with me…that I will be biting my nails till it releases. But I feel we have a lovely film and u r the soul and sunshine of all things Darlings (sic),” he tweeted.

At a press meet last week ahead as part of the film’s trailer launch, Alia spoke about her working experience with Shah Rukh. The actress explained how she decided to sign the film and produce it right after listening to its narration. She added, “SRK contacted me and said, ‘I usually don’t co produce but I will do it for you, for the memories. Don’t worry at all, bohot mazze karenge (we will have a lot of fun).’” She also revealed his reaction after watching the trailer. “Shah Rukh called me up and thanked me in this film’s lingo. He said, ‘Thanks u darlings for doing this movie.’”
Alia is producing under her new banner Eternal Sunshine. Jasmeet K Reen, a debutante, is directing the dark comedy that also has Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew. Darlings will be available to stream on Netflix from August 5.
