A few days ago, Priyanka Chopra Jonas shook the media as w ell as social media when she gave an explosive interview in a recent episode of Dax Shepherd's podcast ‘Armchair Expert’. While she spoke about many topics under the sun, what really caught the attention of everyone was her statement in which she had reasoned her moving from Bollywood. Without naming any particular person/s, Priyanka Chopra Jonas had said that she was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). She added that, she had beef with people and that she was not good at playing that game and that’s why, she, kind of, was tired of the politics and decided that she needed a break. She also spoke about how music played an important role in her life by saying that the music thing gave her an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies she didn’t want to get but she would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people.
Actor Shekhar Suman took to social media and tweeted a few posts in this regard which mirrored his support for Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Shekhar Suman took to Twitter and tweeted stating, “I know of atleast 4ppl in the industry who have ganged up to have me n adhyayan removed from many projects. i know it for sure. These 'gangsters' have a lot of clout and they are more dangerous than a rattle snake. But the truth is they can create hurdles but they cannot stop us”, “Priyanka Chopra's sensational revelation has not come as a shocker. It is well known the way the cabal within the film industry functions. It will oppress, suppress and persecute you till you are finished. It happened with SSR”, “It will happen to others too. That's the way the cookie crumbles in the industry. Take it or leave it. and Priyanka decided to leave. and thank God she did. for now we have a true-blue global icon representing India in Hollywood. As they say every cloud has a silver lining”.
In a recent interview with The Times Of India, Shekhar Suman said that, “It has not come across as a shocker when Priyanka has revealed this. She was brave enough to say these things. And if it can happen to Priyanka, then it can happen to anyone. Despite being a Miss World and a successful actress, she can be pushed to a corner and feel completely helpless that she was not being cast. It’s a different matter that she was lucky to go abroad after her music video with Pitbull and then she was picked up for Quantico. But it may not happen with everyone”.
And when Shekar Suman was asked that whether he thought that his outspoken nature had affected Adhyayan’s career, he said that he thought so. He clarified that he didn’t necessarily speak against anybody but about somebody. In the same breath, he added that people tend to be very sensitive about these things for reasons best known to them and that they would take umbrage to something which is public perception. He added that, he was just forwarding that public perception on a national network or media, and that’s why, since they couldn’t harm him, they tried to harm Adhyayan. Shekhar Suman also went onto say that he knew for a fact that in many productions for which Adhyayan was considered, he was suddenly dropped and when he (Shekhar Suman) got to the bottom of it and discovered that there were a lot of people operating and they had given a stricture that ‘don’t take him’ (Adhyayan Suman).
