In her latest Instagram post, Zeenat Aman recommended that young couples opt for live-in relationships before getting married. The post went viral and several celebrities, like Mumtaz and Saira Banu, spoke against live-in relationships. 'Shaktiman' Mukesh Khanna also shared his opinion, saying that live-in relationships are not a part of our Indian culture. He also accused Aman of having always followed Western culture.
Alia Bhatt's mother, Soni Razdan, took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to what Khanna said. Mocking him, she wrote, “Gosh. Can’t imagine what would happen if a couple lived together in a ‘live-in’ relationship and don’t get along. The mind boggles.” Netizens soon instantly flooded the comments with both supportive and opposing posts. One user also wrote that Razdan shouldn't take Khanna’s comment seriously.

In her most recent Instagram post, Aman advocated for live-in relationships. She revealed that she advised her sons to do this as well. The idea of live-in relationships seems logical to her. According to the veteran actress, before involving two families and the government, couples should know each other and put their relationship to the ultimate test. Aman also said that it's easy to show our best version for a few hours and days. But there are a lot of important things that couples don't discuss and understand. Because of this, they suffer after getting married, which leads to divorce.
Mumtaz advised Aman to be careful with her words and said that such posts are not good ways to increase followers on Instagram. Saira Banu, meanwhile, said that she could never agree to Aman's take on live-in relationships. She added that she would never advocate for such kinds of relationships, as they are unacceptable to her.
