The limited kdrama Soundtrack #2 is almost wrapping up its story and the emotions are running high for both the viewers as well as the characters. The intriguing drama which stars Geum Sae-rok and Steve Noh in lead roles brings the love story with a twisted reunion and a melodious love triangle as the K-pop artist Demian joins the stellar cast.
The fifth episode which premiered last night was undoubtedly one of the best episodes of the short and fascinating musical drama. Here’s a quick recap if you missed the episode and already want to skip to the finale!
Episode 5 Recap
The episode begins with an awkward scene when Suho and Hyeon-seo wake up next to each other as a result of drowning in emotions and Soju. The ex-lovers were melting the ice of the embarrassing one-night stand when Jin-Yeong (Seo’s friend) began knocking on the door, followed soon by Suho’s manager Changsik. Next is the usual kdrama chaos when the male protagonist is quietly sneaking out of the female lead’s house without getting caught by the supporting characters.
The episode also marked the confrontation of feelings between K and Seo while shooting the final music video in the serene locations.
When K invites Seo to grab dinner and the two end up talking about their feelings, K requests his friend and music partner to wait and reveal her answer to his proposal after the music video as her answer would hinder his performance.
In the last few minutes after the shoot, we see the musicians having a candid conversation but it was only revealed when Suho was editing the video and played the behind-the-scenes raw footage. Although the short sequence broke the hearts of Demian’s fans when Seo rejected his feelings, it also set the tone of the episode of the finale episode with his elimination.
Episode 5 Review
The fifth episode started with a romantic angle mixed in the right proportions of awkwardness and fascination. You might enjoy the sneaking out scenes but the major highlight was the impending heartbreak and musical composition as we got a few scenes from the music video shoot. The complex emotions and the love triangle eliminate the drama – It is now a simpler finale episode with the anticipated ending.
With a sliver of vulnerability and romantic relationships unfolding their emotions – The entire episode was filled with heartfelt moments like the phone call between Suho and Seo when the former sleeps peacefully while listening to Seo’s voice. However, the sweet moments were also weighed down by the predictable ending and the bittersweet farewell of K’s character.
Soundtrack #2 is streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
