Thalaivar 170: Superstar Rajinikanth to play a cop in Jai Bhim director's next?

It looks like after wrapping up the shoot for Jailer, Rajinikanth is all set to play a cop in Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel's next. The film, which is yet to get a title, is likely to revolve around police encounters and Rajinikanth is said to be playing a Muslim cop who fights for justice for victims of police encounters. This is the first time that TJ Gnanavel and Rajinikanth are teaming up for a film. The action entertainer will be bankrolled  by Lyca Productions.

Rajinikanth is currently shooting for Jailer, which is helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The actor plays Muthuvel Pandian, a jailer in the film, and the team had not long ago dropped a sneak peek of his look from the action entertainer. The shooting for the film is about to wrap up soon and post-production is likely to begin. The star cast includes Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Tamanaah, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Vasanth Ravi to name a few. Music is by Anirudh Ravichander.

After Jailer, Rajinikanth will be playing a cameo in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's film, Laal Salaam. The film revolves around cricket and stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead. Interestingly, the duo are cricketers in real life , too and are a regular at the Celebrity Cricket League. The Superstar will be making a special appearance in the film.

It was only recently that the Superstar was all praise for Vetri Maaran's latest outing, Viduthalai part 1, starring Soori.Taking to his social media handle, Rajinikanth wrote that Viduthalai boasts of a plot that theTamil film industry has never attempted. He added that he was awestruck by Soori's performance and that Ilaiyaraaja has once again proved his expertise in music. He also called the film's director Vetri Maaran, the pride of Tamil cinema. Pictures of the Superstar with the Viduthalai team are going viral on social media.
