The Girls on the Bus is a series adaptation of Amy Chozick’s bestselling 2018 memoir Chasing Hilary, based on her experiences as a political reporter for various presidential candidates. The show is co-created by Chozick and Julie Plec of The Vampire Diaries fame, with both executives producing it. Rina Mimoun is the showrunner as well as an executive producer, while Greg Berlanti, who established the Arrowverse, also joins in as an EP.
The Girls on the Bus will premiere with two episodes on Max on March 14, 2024, before the rest of the episodes drop weekly until May. Viewers in India can see the show on Jio Cinema with a premium subscription. The show was initially slated to drop on Netflix before parting ways and teaming with The CW. Eventually, in 2022, the drama series made its way to Max and found a home. The show also dropped its trailer on February 21, 2024.
The Girls on the Bus follows the tale of four journalists who intend to join the political campaign bus for the presidential elections and cover it. Each different in their personalities, appearances, reporting styles and medium, the show centres around Sadie McCarthy, essayed by Melissa Benoist, a journalist with yesteryear beliefs. Sadie still romanticises the bygone-era style of campaign reporting and is ready to change her life to properly cover a presidential campaign.

Sadie is joined on the journey by three fierce peers and competitors, who eventually bond with one another on their journey, both physically and metaphorically. Carla Gugino is Grace, a seasoned, flawless reporter who always covers the news first and intends to leave no ground space for others, while Natasha Behnam is a new-age reporter and social media influencer who believes online to be the new and ultimate medium.
Christina Elmore plays a confident but troubled reporter and rounds up the sisterhood. As the four political reporters navigate life, love, heartbreak, marriage, work, scandals, conspiracies, and secrets, they get further embroiled in the exciting, perilous and dramatic world of politics, especially the race for the White House crown. The Girls on the Bus’s trailer and premise have offered enough promising fuel to spark a forest fire, provided they live up to the expectations.
