The Marvels records a landslide 2nd weekend drop even when the movie achieves a feat for Nia DaCosta – Find out more

Seems like it will take a long time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to bounce back to the glorious times that the studio enjoyed during the Infinity Saga. The Marvels, walked with the debate around Superhero Fatigue from the beginning, and while they thought the discussion might benefit the movie, the tactic has worked against it. As per the latest update, the Brie Larson-led sequel has yet again hit rock bottom as the film has suffered its second drop, making history in the wrong way yet again. 

The Marvels, with the opening itself, became the lowest opener of all time, for the studio, leaving behind the Incredible Hulk, and, in the larger context, even The Flash to give you a perspective. Turns out the movie is not on the road to redemption in any case because the drop in the second week has only worsened things for the last Marvel release of 2023.

Where Does The Marvels Stand Now?

As per the Comic Book Movie report, The Marvels has only managed to earn $65 Million domestically on the second weekend. If these numbers are taken under consideration, the report further claims that the movie won’t even manage to reach the $100 million mark in the domestic market. As for the global haul, the movie has touched $96 Million, making the international collection $161 million.

Nia DaCosta Unlocked A Milestone

However, there is also a silver lining to the same, because as per scooper MCM Culture, The Marvels has become the top-grossing movie to hit the theatres that has been directed by a black woman ever. This means it is definitely a feat for Nia DaCosta, but not for the entire team. It will be interesting to see whether the film will rise at least to earn decent numbers in the coming days or not.

The Marvels, stars Brie Larson, Imam Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Samuel L Jackson, Zawe Ashton and the ensemble.
