In a shocking incident, a man in his mid 20s attempted to rob a bank all alone in broad daylight in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu. He made the attempt at around 10 am in Thadikombu branch of Indian Overseas Bank and tied four employees as soon as he entered the premises.

One of them escaped and ran out of the bank, and alerted the public about the crime. The 25-year-old culprit, after getting arrested, confessed that he was inspired by Thunivu which was released two weeks ago. The miscreant had apparently taken a loan from the bank and was dejected after realizing that it was difficult for him to pay the money back.

He also confessed to cops that he had purchased chilly powder, plastic tags and pepper spray to execute his plan. He had watched many movies which had bank heist as their themes and the Ajith-starrer was the last in the list. Interestingly, the H Vinoth directorial has the star appearing as the head of a bank heist gang.

However, the crux of the movie lies in creating awareness on various scams associated with credit cards, luring customers into joining several attractive offers which end up making their lives miserable.

The movie also delineates why the protagonist resorts to bank robbery with a convincing flashback. The action drama opened to above average response from critics and audience. Thunivu has grossed 100 crores from Tamil Nadu alone and its worldwide collection is said to be around 170 crores.

The movie bankrolled by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios is set to drop on Netflix. According to sources, it will start premiering on the OTT giant in the second week of February.
