Vijay Deverakonda, who turned heads with Arjun Reddy, managed to create a notable fan base among the Tamil audience with Geetha Govindam. His subsequent release NOTA, a bilingual political drama, was helmed by Tamil director Anand Shankar. Though the movie and a few of his later projects did not do well as expected, he enjoys a following in Tamil Nadu.

He was in Chennai a couple of days ago to promote his forthcoming project Kushi which is slated to hit the screens on September 1. He was asked about Rajinikanth's Jailer and a few questions during the press meet.
What left many surprised was his reply when one of the journalists asked him about his knowledge of Kollywood filmmakers. Vijay expressed admiration towards Vetri Maaran, Nelson Dilipkumar and Lokesh Kanagaraj during the event. He was asked if he is aware of other directors in Tamil.
The Liger star suddenly mentioned Arun Prabhu's name and said that he loves his works Aruvi and Vaazhl. He also shot back at the reporter asking if he knows who Arun Prabhu is. Vijay added that he likes Shree Karthick, who made Kanam, which was released in Telugu, too, under the title Oke Oka Jeevitham.
Arun Matheswaran, who is currently making Captain Miller with Dhanush, is also on his favourite list. The video of him replying to the journalist has been going viral on social media. Many are going gaga over the confidence and patience with which Vijay responded to the arrogant reporter's question.
Meanwhile, Kushi is Vijay's release after a year's hiatus. The movie, starring Samantha, too, in a lead role, is riding on good expectations. The songs composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab from the movie are already a hit among cinephiles.
