Ashmita Chaliha is the sole Indian shuttler remaining in the Thailand Masters Super 300 as she secured a spot in the semi-finals on Friday. She clinched victory over Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo of Indonesia in three games 21-14, 19-21, 21-13, marking her first-ever semi-final appearance at a Super 300 tournament.

Chaliha is set to face Thailand's Supanida Katethong in the semi-final at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The game is scheduled to begin at around 11:10 AM. Indian badminton enthusiasts can catch the action live on the Badminton World Federation's (BWF) official YouTube channel, BWF TV, as well as on JioCinema.

About Ashmita Chaliha's clash:

Ashmita staged a remarkable comeback in the first game, winning eleven consecutive points with her aggressive gameplay to secure it 21-14 from a trailing position 10-14. While she appeared poised to wrap up the match in two games, leading 19-15, her eagerness led to a loss of concentration, resulting in a defeat in the second game 19-21.

However, determined not to repeat her mistakes, Ashmita regained her composure in the third game and comfortably clinched the decider 21-13 to secure her spot in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, in other Indian performances at the tournament, the women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand faced a heartbreaking defeat in the quarter-finals. Despite putting up a valiant fight, they were narrowly edged out in three games 12-21, 21-17, 21-23 by the fourth-seeded Indonesian pair of Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma and Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, ranked world no. 18.

If they had won, it could have potentially narrowed the gap between them and Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto in the race to the Paris Rankings. In this crucial ranking battle, only one Indian pair can secure their spot at the prestigious event.

In the men's singles category, Mithun Manjunath, the sole Indian representative, faced a defeat in straight games (19-21, 15-21) against Mark Caljouw of the Netherlands.
