This week, Tamil cinema has three notable releases, and interestingly, all of them feature young heroes with promising content. With Diwali round the corner, and long weekend incoming, theatres will see a variety of content and here are the three films that you should not missing out watching on big screens.

Major Tamil films hitting theatres for Diwali 2025

Bison Kaalaamadan:

Bison Kaalaamadan is a Tamil sports drama which is based on kabbadi. The film comes from writer and director Mari Selvaraj, who has previously made hit films like Vaazhai, Maamannan, Karnan and Pariyerum Perumal. Bison features Dhruv Vikram in the lead role, along with noted actors like Pasupathy, Lal, Ameer, Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan and others. With Nivas K Prasanna scoring the music, Bison is expected to be a gritty sports drama with social commentary.

Dude:

Dude, featuring a young cast and crew, has Pradeep Ranganathan at the forefront, with Mamitha Baiju of Premalu fame playing the female lead. Dude is helmed by Keerthiswaran in his directorial debut, while Sai Abhyankkar, another young sensation, has scored the music. The film is expected to be a romantic family entertainer, about two childhood friends. Also starring Neha Sshetty, Sarathkumar, Rohini, Hridhu Haroon and others, Dude is Pradeep’s second release this year after Dragon.

Diesel

Diesel is an action drama which is directed by Shanmugam Muthusamy. The film features Harish Kalyan in the lead role, and also has actors Athulyaa Ravi, Vinay Rai, Sai Kumar, Ananya, Karunaas, Bose Venkat, Ramesh Tilak, Kaali Venkat, Vivek Prasanna, Sachin Kedhekar, Zakir Husain, Thangadurai, Maaran, KPY Dheena, Apoorva Singh, among others. Diesel is expected to talk about the crude oil mafia, a concept which is less explored in Tamil cinema. Harish Kalyan’s film comes after the success of Lubber Pandhu and Parking, both of which have been critically acclaimed.
