Malayalam film, 916 Kunjoottan, has made its digital debut today. The action thriller, starring Guinness Pakru in lead role, is now available to watch on Amazon Prime Video. This gives fans of Malayalam cinema a solid selection of films to watch online this weekend.

916 Kunjoottan OTT release update

The film, which released in theatres on May 23, began streaming on the popular online platform in Malayalam from 12 am on July 11. 916 Kunjoottan's OTT debut is unexpected because neither the platform nor its creators had previously disclosed any details about its digital debut. Meanwhile, some of the other recent Malayalam hits such as Narivetta and Detective Ujjwalan have also made it to various streaming sites on the same day. While Tovino Thomas' Narivetta is streaming on Sony LIV as well as OTTplay, Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer Detective Ujjwalan can be watched on Netflix.

Recently, Malayalam films such as Pariwar, Madhura Manohara Moham and Vadakkan began streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Anaswara Rajan-starrer Mr & Mrs Bachelor also became accessible on Manorama Max from July 11.

916 Kunjoottan plot and cast details

The protagonist of the action thriller is Sidharth, a man with small stature who is affectionately known as Kunjoottan. He leads two separate lives, one as a devious trader in the city and the other as an ordinary tea shop owner in his hometown. He must demonstrate that the true meaning of strength and worth when secrets unravel in front of his loved ones.

The film features supporting roles from Tiny Tom, Rakesh Subramanian, Dayyana Hameed, Niya Varghese, Shaju Sreedhar, Kottayam Ramesh and Sinoj Angamaly. 916 Kunjoottan, which is financed by Morze Dragon Entertainment, was directed by debutante Aaryan Vijay. Although the movie did not draw many people to theatres, Guinness Pakru's portrayal of Sidharth was well received by viewers. The release of several highly anticipated Malayalam films on the same day also contributed to the film's dismal box office result.
