Who is the central character in Baby Girl

Helmed by director Arun Varma, the upcoming Malayalam film features Nivin Pauly as a hospital attendant who gets embroiled in an investigation over a missing baby. During a press meet, the cast and crew spoke about the challenging situation of shooting with a newborn on real location.

“"Actually, we need to thank the parents because the baby was only four days old when brought to the film sets. A film set does not have an atmosphere suitable for newborns. There is a chance of catching infections during the initial period. All of us were tense because if something happened to the baby, it would be saddening for all. Fortunately, there were no troubles and they completed the shoot without any problems," he added.

Nivin, the father of two children in real life, said that he is afraid to carry around newborns. Not just that, he had to run with the baby in hand and get into the car and all in the movie, the actor explained.

“I thank both the father and mother because the decision they took is big. Even I wouldn't be able to take such a decision, I have a lot of fear,” added the lead actor.

The infant featured in the movie is the baby of Akhil Yashodharan, who is part of the production company.

‘All precautionary measures taken to ensure baby’s safety’

While we do not know whether any stipulations exist over shooting with such young babies, the director Arun Varma added that they had taken all precautionary measures and ensured the safety of the newborn on set. The film was shot in Thiruvananthapuram during April-May. “We put up a set in a lot of places and those were also sanitised while shooting with the baby,” he said. But the director also thanked Akhil’s family, remarking that he himself might not agree to his child being part of a film shoot.
