Led by debutant director Adhvaith Nayar and a crop of young stars, Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies became the first Malayalam hit of 2026. The WWE-inspired film, starring actors Roshan Mathew, Arjun Ashokan, Ishan Shoukath and Vishak Nair, is now set to make its OTT release on Netflix. Before the action-packed film’s OTT debut, here’s a look at the box office collections of Chatha Pacha.

What is the Chatha Pacha box office collection

Chatha Pacha is a 2026 Malayalam action-comedy film which was released in theatres on January 22. The film made Rs 33.42 crore in worldwide collections during its 26-day run at the box office, as per trade tracker Sacnilk. The India gross collection of Chatha Pacha is Rs 18.82 crore, while the overseas collection is at Rs 14.6 crore, the Sacnilk has reported. Apart from the box office collection, the film has also earned substantial amounts in OTT and satellite deals, as per reports.

Notably, none of the other Malayalam films released this year has been able to make much of a dent at the box office. Nivin Pauly’s film Baby Girl had a disappointing outing, while Jeethu Joseph-helmed thriller film Valathu Vashathe Kallan also did not live up to viewers' expectations.

What’s Chatha Pacha movie about

The plot of Chatha Pacha revolves around an amateur wrestling club in Kochi set up by youngsters, inspired by WWE wrestling. Though the club is initially success, past grievances comes in the way of friendship.

Roshan Mathew, Arjun Ashokan, and Ishan Shoukath play the childhood friends, while Vishak Nair is the ‘pookie’ villain. Malayalam megastar Mammootty also makes a cameo appearance as Walter. Though his cameo was making the biggest buzz before release, it led to trolls later on. But still the film won appreciation for the stylish setting and action sequences.

Which are the other recent Malayalam hits

Nivin Pauly’s Sarvam Maya was the other major hit from Malayalam recently. The makers of the Akhil Sathyan directorial claimed the film made over Rs 150 crore. Before Sarvam Maya, Mammootty’s serial killer movie Kalamkaval released in theatres on December 5 and was also a hit. Though the film did not break into Rs 100 crore, it made Rs 82.75 crore, as per Sacnilk. Both Sarvam Maya and Kalamkaval are available for streaming on OTTplay Premium.
