Actor Shruti Haasan, who has been missing in action in Tamil cinema for a while, is back with Coolie. The Rajinikanth-starrer film will mark the first time she will be collaborating with the superstar. In a recent podcast to a YouTube channel, Shruti Haasan spoke about sharing the screen space with Rajnikanth and her understanding.

Coolie is currently the most expected film from the Tamil cinema. The film which is slated for release on August 14, is headlined by Rajinikanth. The film also stars actors from across the industries, including Shruti Haasan.

In a recent podcast with YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia, Shruti opened up about working with Rajinikanth. Acknowledging how her father, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are two doyens of Tamil cinema, she said, “I always knew him through the lens of the public like everybody else. For some reason people thought I grew up around him, which was not the case. So I knew him as everyone, as superstar Rajinikanth, and through my dad's lens and his experiences when they were working together.”

She added that it was through Coolie's filming process she got to know him. "He is a unique mix of characteristics. Like he is shrewd and sharp, like a razor...Like a fruit ninja, you can hear it. He is that sharp, but he is really warm, chill and cool to talk with. He is very easy to converse with and brings good energy to sets,” she added. Shruti also said that everyone was happy when he walked into the sets and deeply spiritual.

Besides Rajinikanth and Shruti Haasan, the film also stars Upendra, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir and others. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, the action thriller will release in theatres on August 14. Coolie will also have a dance appearance by Pooja Hegde.
