The trailer of Coolie is out now, and with that, fans have already begun the guessing game of the story. With the old speculations that the film will have a sci-fi angle with time travel element, and smartly cut trailer giving away some hints, fans cannot keep calm but deduce the story. With only less than two weeks left for the release of the Rajinikanth-starrer to hit big screens, Lokesh Kanagaraj had mellowed it down with the trailer, but it has only given way for fans to their guessing.

Undoubtedly, Coolie is the most anticipated film right now. Scores of fans, who had been waiting for the release of trailer, have begun doing their job in connecting the dots and decode the film. The trailer of Coolie took place at a launch event held on Saturday in Chennai. Slated for a theatrical release on August 14, the film is headlined by Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

The three-minute-long trailer has been smartly cut enough to make sure that the plot and conflict are not given away, while it introduces all the main characters and even teases the fan theories existing right now. Reportedly a plot of Coolie had suggested time travel, and how an aged gangster uses gold watch to revive his gang back, to face a strong opponent. The trailer, which does not affirm the theory, has however given ample shots which seems to support this claim.

Most of them have deduced that Sathyaraj who plays Rajinikanth's friend is the one who brings the sci-fi angle as his character talks about keeping a man 'offline' for 30 years. Certain paraphernalia and setup suggest that he is the one who resurrects Rajinikanth, while Upendra's Kaleesh comes in the past. Further, the de-aged version of Rajinikanth is expected to appear, showing that the past has to come back to fight against Nagarjuna's Simon in the present. This sets off a face-off between Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna.

So far, Coolie has been marketed as an action thriller with the makers not confirming the sci-fi angle. Produced by Sun Pictures, the power-packed music is scored by Anirudh Ravichander. The film will release on August 14. The principal cast of the film includes Nagarjuna, Upendra, Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and Pooja Hegde in a dance appearance. The film has been certified A, a first in Lokesh’s career, while Rajinikanth’s last one was about 30 years before.

Coolie will release along with Hindi film War 2 featuring Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR. It is shot by cinematographer Girish Gangadharan and edited by Philomin Raj.
