Drishyam 3 director Jeethu Joseph says he likes to do small films: Not into crore clubs

Drishyam 3 director Jeethu Joseph, who is also the showrunner of the upcoming series Roslin, talks about what kind of films he prefers to make, with the focus always on the stories.

Superstar Mohanlal’s movie Drishyam is one of the most popular Malayalam thrillers which was a blockbuster success and has fans across the country, who are eagerly awaiting for the third instalment in April. But the creative force behind the Drishyam franchise, Jeethu Joseph, insists that he likes to do small films and is not much into crore clubs.

Jeethu Joseph on how he picks films

In an interview with Ranjini Haridas, Jeethu Joseph opened up about what kind of films he prefers to make with the focus always on the stories.

"I am not into crore clubs and all. I always wanted to do small films. There are some people who want to do a bigger film than the last one. I am not like that.

“When I hear a story, it is about whether I liked the story - it is not about big or small. That's why I did Valathu Vashathe Kallan. It also has a good message about parenting,” he explained.

Valathu Vashathe Kallan, starring actors Biju Menon and Joju George, had opened to mixed reviews. But Jeethu said he got lots of messages about the movie.

When is Drishyam 3 releasing

Jeethu Joseph’s next film is Drishyam 3, which hits theatres on April 2, 2026, and will have a blockbuster opening. Expectations are high from the Mohanlal movie, with even other industries keeping a close eye on how the film would unfold. Much like its predecessors, Drishyam 3 will also be remade in other languages, with the Hindi movie set to release on October 2, 2026.

Apart from Drishyam 3, Jeethu Joseph is also the showrunner of the upcoming Malayalam series Secret Stories: Roslin which will release on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium on February 27, 2026. Actors Vineeth, Meena, Sajana Dipu and Hakim Shahjahan are part of the series, which Jeethu Joseph says is a mystery drama.
