Hridayapoorvam release date: Mohanlal confirmed that his much-awaited film with Sathyan Anthikad will hit theatres for Onam 2025. He also dropped a poster along with his co-star Sangeeth Prathap.

Hridayapoorvam, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, is one of the most-awaited Malayalam films of the year. Now putting speculations to rest about the release date, lead actor Mohanlal has confirmed that Hridayapoorvam will release in theatres on August 28, 2025, as an Onam release. Mohanlal also dropped a quirky poster along with his Hridayapoorvam co-star Sangeeth Prathap.

Mohanlal reveals Hridayapoorvam release date

The upcoming Malayalam film, Hridayapoorvam, starring Mohanlal, is directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad. Earlier, there were reports that Hridayapoorvam will be an Onam release but the date was not officially confirmed.

The actor took to social media on Sunday to announce that Hridayapoorvam will release on August 25, in time for Onam festivities. He also shared an official poster, which featured him along with Sangeeth Prathap. The quirky poster has a bemused Sangeeth literally pulling Mohanlal’s legs. The poster gives feel-good vibes, much like the films that Sathyan Anthikad is known for.

Notably, Mohanlal's other two releases of 2025 - Empuraan and Thudarum - were blockbuster hits.

Actress Malavika Mohanan stars as the female lead along with Sangita Madhavan Nair, Siddique, Baburaj, Lalu Alex, and Janardhanan.

Hridayapoorvam is quite special for fans of Malayalam cinema as it reunites Mohanlal with his Nadodikkattu director. The duo have delivered several hits together, especially during the late 1980s and 1990s. Nadodikkattu, Pattanapravesham and Gandhinagar 2nd Street are among their popular collaborations.

Other Onam 2025 releases

Other highly-anticipated Malayalam films releasing in theatres for Onam, include Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, starring Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Actor-filmmaker Althaf Salim helms this movie, which is his second directorial venture.

Another Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer, Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, is also eyeing an Onam release. Naslen also stars in this film, which is backed by Dulquer Salmaan’s production house, Wayfarer Films. Dominic Arun has helmed this movie, which is expected to feature Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas in cameo appearances.

There is also Maine Pyar Kiya, featuring Hridhu Haroon and Preity Mukhundhan which is also set for release during the festive season, clashing with the big projects.
