The revising committee of the censor board was scheduled to view the film again for recensoring at 2pm on March 9. However, on Monday morning, Tamil TV channels reported that the recensoring process of Vijay’s much-anticipated film was postponed at the last minute. The reason given being that some of the members of the committee fell ill, prompting the postponement. However, there has been no official update on the censoring process of Jana Nayagan.
A new date will now have to be announced for the film to be reviewed by the board again.
The much-anticipated film, which also marks Vijay’s final film before he enters politics full-time, is produced by KVN Productions, who are also backing the Kannada film Toxic with Yash in the lead. However, Toxic has also been postponed to June 4, with the makers citing the tension in the Middle East as the reason for the postponement.

Jana Nayagan was initially slated to be a big Pongal release, with the date set for January 9, 2026. However, the trouble began with the delay over the CBFC issuing the censor certificate, and the board later objected to the film, which was sent to the revising committee. This led to Jana Nayagan getting postponed indefinitely. The film has been facing a series of hurdles, and the makers had even fought a legal battle but that failed to resovle the issue. After the makers withdrew the case against CBFC, Thalapathy Vijay fans were hopeful that the film would now be cleared for release. However, with the CBFC skipping Jana Nayagan's review, the film’s release continues to be in the dark.
