Billa Ranga Baashaa is Kiccha Sudeep’s second collaboration with Vikrant Rona maker Anup Bhandari and is one of his most ambitious projects to date.

Billa Ranga Baashaa (BRB) was the first film that Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep began working on after last year’s Max. But the Anup Bhandari directorial, which is set nearly two centuries in the future, is a big project that can only be shot on specially-erected sets, so there are lengthy breaks between schedules when the sets are changed around. “It takes time to put up these sets, because we are creating the world in which the story is set,” Sudeep said.

Sudeep's plan to give KFI one film a year

Since BRB is a film that will be in theatres only in 2026 and that Sudeep is now committed to his 1 release per year plan, he began working on one more project, Kiccha47 (now titled Mark) simultaneously, which he was looking at shooting for every time Anup’s movie went into break. “But then I thought that if I postpone one schedule of BRB and utilize that time on Kiccha47, I will be able to give the Kannada film industry 1 movie per year,” he said.

Sudeep then told the producer of Billa Ranga Baashaa that instead of shooting for 20-25 days and then giving him that many days to chill at home, if they push a schedule ahead and give him 50 days at a stretch, he could go and finish another film. The actor also told them to be prepared for two back-to-back schedules of BRB once he’s done with Mark, which they were more than happy to accommodate.

Since Sudeep has only been shooting for Mark for a while, there was speculation that BRB has been shelved. “It is not shelved; instead, it is only getting better. I will finish Mark by October end, and once the post-production is also completed, I will rejoin the set of BRB thereafter,” he said. Meanwhile, Mark, he added, is already about 60% complete, and is on course to be in theatres for Christmas 2025, a date he was eyeing even before the film went on floors.
